Domaine Sylvain Cathiard et Fils controls a prestigious range of fine plots that range from Nuits-Saint-Georges, Vosne-Romanée, Chambolle-Musigny and Romanée-St-Vivant. Now controlled by Sylvain Cathiard and his son Sébastien, its wines are often hard to find, so this 1998 vintage is somewhat of a gem, we think. Purely pinot noir, it’s dominant with powerful aromas of black fruits, sweet spices and a richly concentrated palate.
