If you could be granted one wish in life, what would it be? Back in 1904 Brazilian aviator, Alberto Santos Dumont asked himself the same question. His answer: to be able to tell the time while flying. As soon as Cartier caught wind of the idea, the French chronographer engineered the Santos-Dumont quartz watch from stainless steel. Fast-forward to 2020 and its beaded crown is married with Roman numerals and sword-shaped hands for the modern rendition.
