Winemaker Adi Badenhorst bought the Kalmoesfontein farm with his cousin Hein in 2008, and since then, AA Badenhorst has become a notable vintner in South Africa’s Swartland region. But it doesn’t just make wines: enter The 4th Rabbit mezcal. This velvety smooth tipple is made using traditional Mexican mezcal techniques from agave plants sourced from the Karoo desert. On sipping, it reveals notes of floral honey, lingering sweet smoke, a whisper of earthy spice and a soft mineral agave core.
